Alcom was recognised and honoured for its outstanding corporate responsibility practices at the StarBiz-ICR Malaysia Corporate Responsibility Awards 2009 presentation ceremony last Friday, March 5th, 2010. The awards were from an initiative between The Star (a leading publication) and the Institute of Corporate Responsibility (ICR) Malaysia, together with their working partners, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Securities Industry Development Corp.

Only seven companies received an award out of over 330 Malaysian public-listed companies participating. Alcom was one of seven companies to receive an award. Awards were given for four categories under marketplace, workplace, environment and community. In each category, there were two market capitalisation segments (RM1bil and above, and below RM1bil). Alcom emerged as winner in the workplace category for market capitalisation of RM1bil and below.

Key judging criteria for the workplace category includes code of conduct, health & safety, human capital development, work-life balance, working conditions, diversity and equal opportunity.

The prestigious event was attended by over 200 people and was graced by His Royal Highness Raja Nazrin Shah, The Crown Prince of Perak.

We are particularly proud to be the recipient of the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for Industry Excellence 2008. This award is the highest recognition given by the Government of Malaysia for exceptional achievements in organisational excellence (total quality), competitiveness, innovativeness and corporate responsibility.

We were also awarded the Product Excellence Award 2008 in Category IV which is the Open Category for large companies and foreign companies incorporated in Malaysia.

Other recent awards include “Excellent Business Partner” awards from some of our most quality conscious and demanding multinational customers.
