Light Gauge Foil is used for the insulation and food packaging. In packaging, foil is compatible with most foods and other packaging metals, providing a non-toxic barrier to light, gas, oils, fats and water vapour. Besides being impermeable to bacteria and aromas, aluminium foil is said to have the widest temperature tolerance of all flexible packaging materials and can withstand extremes in temperature change, from deep freezing to oven baking.
Alcom's Light Gauge Foil is widely used to package confectionery, diary products, pharmaceuticals and cigarette and also insulation. These Light Gauge Foil is readily laminated with paper and plastic film and is easily coated, allowing manufacturers to apply their brand name and preferred colours, making a product immediately recognisable to the consumer. Cable Foil
Cable Foil is used for conversion into cable wrap required in the manufacture of telecommunication cable as a moisture barrier. Alcom's cable foil is specially made for both the extrusion and lamination process of conversion to cable wrap. It has a well maintained oil-free surface to enhance the adhesion of the polyethylene coatings during the conversion process. Its metallurgical and chemical properties and coil length are meticulously maintained and controlled to give a quality product for the benefit of customers. The cable foil is normally supplied in AA1100 alloy and in soft temper. The dimensions such as thickness, width and length are made to customers' specifications.
